# How to connect the AI Assistant

Connect an AI assistant to the app with the MCP server URL — it can read your data, but every change waits for your approval.

Let an AI assistant work with your LDT Digital Downloads data: connect it with the MCP server URL, then approve or reject each change it proposes.

### 1. Open the AI assistant settings

Go to **LDT Digital Downloads → Settings → AI Assistant**.

The page shows the **MCP Server URL**, a **How to connect** section and the list of **Connected assistants**.

### 2. Copy the MCP server URL

Under **MCP Server URL** click **Copy** and paste the address into your AI assistant's connector settings. The assistant uses it to reach your store's data through the MCP server.

### 3. Allow the assistant access

When the assistant connects, the app opens a consent screen that names the assistant and lists its **Permissions**:

* **Read access** — the assistant may look at your products, orders, files and license keys.
* **Write access** — the assistant may propose changes such as adding a file or a license key.

Click **Allow access** to finish the connection, or **Cancel** to stop.

### 4. Know what the assistant can and cannot do

Reading is open, writing is not:

* The assistant reads your data with the permissions you allowed on the consent screen.
* Every change it proposes becomes an action **waiting for your approval** in the app. Nothing is written until you approve it.
* A waiting action expires after **30 minutes**, and at most **20** actions can wait for you at once.

### 5. Approve or reject a proposed change

When the assistant proposes something, the app shows the action with **Approve** and **Reject**.

* **Approve** runs it and reports the result back to the assistant.
* **Reject** leaves everything unchanged — the confirmation says so before you decide.

If nothing is waiting you will see **No actions waiting for approval.**

### 6. Change the permissions later

In **Connected assistants** click **Edit** on a connection and set **Read access** and **Write access** as you want them. The change applies to the next request from that assistant.

### 7. Revoke a connection

Click **Revoke connection** on the assistant you want to disconnect and confirm. The assistant loses access immediately and has to connect again.

### Result

Your AI assistant can read the store data you allowed, every write waits for your approval in the app, and you can change or revoke the connection whenever you like.

### Troubleshooting

* **The assistant says an action expired.** Waiting actions live for 30 minutes; ask the assistant to propose the change again.
* **The assistant connected but sees nothing.** Open **Connected assistants → Edit** and check that **Read access** is on.
* **The connection screen does not open.** The MCP server is turned off for this store; ask support to enable it before connecting an assistant.

### Good to know

* A connection lasts up to a year and does not expire on its own — revoke it when you stop using the assistant.
* Requests are rate limited, so a very chatty assistant can be asked to slow down.
* The assistant can only ever work on the store it connected to; it cannot ask for another one.
