# How to configure and sell license keys

Upload license keys, tag them and sell a product where every order gets its own key automatically.

Sell activation codes, game keys or software licences: upload your keys once, then let the app give every order its own key automatically.

### 1. Upload your license keys

Go to **LDT Digital Downloads → License Keys** and click **Upload License Keys**. The counters on top show what you have: **All**, **Assigned**, **Available** and **Pending**.

On the upload screen:

* **License key type** — keep **Text** to paste a list; **QR Code** or **File** are for keys kept as images or a file.
* **License keys** — paste **one key per line**.
* **Tags** — add a tag such as `Office2019` to group this batch, so a product can use exactly these keys.
* Click **Upload**. Keys you already uploaded are ignored, and orders that are still waiting for a key get one automatically.

### 2. Create the digital product

Go to **LDT Digital Downloads → Products** and click **Add digital product**.

In the **Select product** dialog tick the Shopify product you want to sell with a key, then click **Select**.

### 3. Turn on license keys for the product

In the product form open the **Selling digital content** tab and tick **This is license key**. Then pick where the keys come from in **License key inventory**:

* **Use tagged license keys** — keys from the batch you tagged; choose it under **License key tag** (for example `Office2019`).
* **Use untagged license keys** — any free key from your inventory (only offered when your store uses untagged keys).
* **Manually** — you paste the key yourself on each order.
* **Use randomly generated license keys** — the app creates the key.

Click **Save** in the app bar — the button appears as soon as something changed.

### Result

Every new order for this product gets its own key, sent to the customer together with the files. You can see or replace it in **Orders → the order → License key(s)**.
