# How to change the design of the email?

Change the logo, colours and layout of the automated emails your students receive

Brand your automated emails with your own logo, colours and layout — the style applies to every email the app sends.

The design is shared by all templates. Per-template wording lives in the template itself; see **How to Translate Your Automated Emails into Local Languages**.

### 1. Open the email settings

In the LDT Online Courses app, go to **Settings** -> **Email notification**.

### 2. Open the style settings

The **General settings** tab holds **Email style**: upload a **Logo** and set its **Logo width**, add a **Header banner**, pick the button, text, link, background and border colours, and add **Email custom CSS** if you need more control.

Use the preview beside the settings to check the result before you send anything.

### 3. Edit a template body if needed

To change the wording or layout of one email, open its tab — **Purchase welcome**, **Course completion welcome**, **Course expiration remind**, or **Other email templates** — and click **Edit email template**. The body is Liquid, so it can use the template variables listed next to the editor.

Use the **Languages** menu at the top of the editor to keep one body per language: the menu lists **Default** plus every language you added, and **Add a language** adds another. **Revert to original template** puts back the template the app shipped with.

### 4. Send a test email

At the bottom of the same editor, type your address in **Receiver** and click **Send**.

### Result

Every automated email leaves with your logo, colours and layout, and the preview shows the same thing your student will see.

### Troubleshooting

* **The logo does not appear.** Keep it under 2 MB, and check **Logo width** — a very large logo is scaled down instead of stretching the email.
* **The template needs unlocking.** Editing Liquid code can require an unlock request; see **Why is an Unlock Request Required for Liquid Code Email Customization?**
* **Emails arrive without any styling.** Your own SMTP server must be working; see **Managing Sender and Receiver Email Addresses**.
